Wetherby Racecourse and Conference Centre
With arguably the finest jumping course in the north, the quality of Wetherby’s racing is renowned throughout the sport.
The North bank of the River Wharfe is steeped in horse racing history and it is here that the Romans began the Wetherby story racing Arab horses at a place called Netherby, situated a few miles upstream from Wetherby. In March 1891 the first race meeting was staged here at Wetherby Racecourse.
Since then, Wetherby has thrived and flourished becoming one of the country’s leading jumping tracks. The Racecourse has embraced change and modernisation whilst maintaining the finest traditions of its steeple-chasing heritage. Now, Wetherby is a subtle blend of old and new, with some of the most modern racecourse facilities available, nestling in 300 acres of park and farmland, adjacent to the A1.
The location, the atmosphere, the spectacular views and the finest action over the jumps all blend effortlessly to make Wetherby Racecourse and Conference Centre a superb venue, whatever the occasion.
