Cross Flatts is an
important green space in an inner city area. In the past, it has
suffered from vandalism, dog fouling and burnt out cars and was
perceived to be unsafe. But it has undergone extensive regeneration in
recent years, turning areas of derelict wasteland into green areas and
cleaning up traditional waste dumping sites into an area for use by the
community. A popular adventure playground has also been built.
The two organisations primarily responsible for this transformation are
The Friends of Cross Flatts Park and Beeston in Bloom, two
voluntary-run residents groups working to contribute to the
regeneration of Beeston.
