On Tuesday 29 November breast cancer support centre, The Haven, will once again host its annual Advent Thanksgiving service at the beautiful Leeds Parish Church.
 
The Haven will be joined by guest speakers including, local news reporter Gaynor Barnes, philanthropist Mike Tomlinson and Welcome to Yorkshire CEO, Gary Verity. The VIP guests will read messages of thanks on behalf of the charity to all those supporters who have donated time or money over the past 12 months.
 
The evening of hope, inspiration and celebration will feature the Leeds Parish Church Choir, and beautiful music will be led by soprano singer, Alexandra Lowe.
 
Debra Horsman, Programme Manager at The Haven said: “This will be the third year we have hosted our Advent Thanksgiving Service and we hope to see around 400 guests attending this year. It is sure to be a fantastic evening, and I hope all of our guests will join us for mulled wine and mince pies afterwards.”
 
All proceeds from the event will benefit the Yorkshire Haven which is situated a short walk from the church, at The Gateway complex. The charity hopes to raise over £3,000 from the event, which will enable more women and men dealing with the effects of breast cancer to be seen by expert therapists and counsellors. The Haven receives no Government funding and relies entirely on charitable donations and fundraising events to meet all our costs.
 
The Haven is a national charity with centres in Leeds, London and Hereford. It is the only national breast cancer charity that provides one-to-one support to improve the quality of life of anyone affected by breast cancer. Working in partnership with the NHS, the Haven offers a free integrated breast cancer support service. Specialist nurses and experts in nutrition, exercise and emotional support provide tailor-made programmes for each Visitor. The Haven in Yorkshire has helped support over 980 women and one man since opening in 2008.
 
Tickets are priced at £10 or £15 for VIP seating. The Advent Service begins at 6pm. The Haven will also be celebrating Christmas with their Ultimate Christmas Party which takes place on the 20th December. To find out more about either event please visit www.thehaven.org.uk.
