Second helping of Leeds Loves Food this summer
Leeds’ passion for all things food related will be demonstrated this summer with the second ‘Leeds Loves Food’ festival, the annual celebration of the city’s culinary offer in Leeds from 1st-4th July.
Last year’s festival was a great success, bringing in thousands to the city, with a launch in Millennium Square on one of the hottest days of the year, appearances by James Martin and Jimmy Doherty of ‘Jimmy’s Farm’, plus a number of events in restaurants and other venues in the city.
This year, Marketing Leeds, City Centre Management, and Leeds City Council’s events team, partnered with Leeds Restaurant Association are bringing together an even more exciting and jam packed calendar of events. This includes a healthy dose of cookery demonstrations and masterclasses, food sampling, celebrity chefs and special offers and promotions - something for everyone to get their teeth into.
Deborah Green, chief executive of Marketing
Leeds said: “Last year’s Leeds Loves Food festival was the first
we have organised and was a great success, resulting in an eight-fold
return on investment, with press coverage in Spain, Italy and a world
first - a restaurant review competition on Twitter, which gained national
broadsheet exposure. The festival is an opportunity to celebrate and
showcase our fabulous restaurants and culinary expertise to
a national
and international audience, and this years’ will be no exception.”
Cath Follin, City Centre Manager said:
“Leeds has seen some major developments in the food and drink sector
in recent years, with award winning restaurants and the opening of many
new venues. Our city has much to be proud of and Leeds Loves Food is
our annual festival to share this with a wider audience.”
