One of Leeds's most famous sons, Alan Bennett returns to the city next month for a rare question and answer session at West Yorkshire Playhouse.
The playwright will take part in the An Evening With.... event during the first week's performance of his latest work, The History Boys, a story inspired by his years as a pupil at what is now Lawnswood School.
Born in Leeds and raised in Far Headingley and Armley, Bennett, pictured right, left the city at the age of 18 and after National Service went on to Oxford University and international acclaim as one of Britain's finest writers.
From his Talking Heads TV series to spawning the Oscar-nominated movie The Madness of King George, he is now among the pantheon of literary greats.
And with the debut of The History Boys six years ago he continues to attract acclaim. After international performances, the production has gone on to scoop countless awards and comes to Leeds for a month-long run. The play opens on February 3 and runs until March 6.
An Evening With Alan Bennett takes place on February 5 at 5pm. He will answer questions for an hour, then conduct a booksigning session.
Tickets are £10, with a £3 discount for anyone purchasing tickets for the play – go to www.wyp.org.uk or call 0113 213 7700.
