Leeds' newest alternative nightclub, thesubculture, lives in the Merrion Centre in the shell of the old Bassment nightclub. It opened in 2006 with the remit of providing a home for many of the nights left in limbo by the closure of Bar Phono and the Bassment and other new nights missing from the Leeds alternative scene.

Regular nights include long-running favourites Gigantic, Friday Flock and Juvenile Hall, as well as new nights such as Idioteque, Yeah! Right! and Leeds' only regular burlesque night, The Slippery Belle. The Subculture aims to provide a comprehensive selection of alternative music styles and a wide variety of nights.

As well as regular nights it is also available to host one-off nights and gigs and for private hire on nights when we're not already booked.
