Harry Ramsden's
This, the original Harry Ramsden's, opened in Guiseley in 1928. It was on December 20 1928, with only £150, that Harry founded what was to become the world's most famous fish and chip restaurant. It was a modest beginning in a green and white painted wooden hut, 10 feet by 6 feet, which you can still see on the site to this day. In 1931, Mr Ramsden (1886 - 1963) opened what was to become the world's largest fish and chip restaurant at the same site.

Since it's humble beginnings, Harry Ramsden's has been transformed into a fish and chip empire. Since going public in 1989, the company has grown into a world-wide chain, with outlets across the UK as well as Singapore, Hong Kong, the USA and the Middle East.
