University of Leeds launches new services for business site
27th Oct 2011
The University of Leeds has developed a refreshed online Services for Business feature as part of its drive to raise awareness about how the University can help meet the needs of local and national businesses.
The new site provides a comprehensive summary of the many ways the University supports businesses, including; how to advertise vacancies to students and graduates for free, accessing academics via consultancy services, making use of the campus for conferences, events and meetings, finding out more about licences and patents for new technology and apply for funding for Knowledge Transfer Partnerships with academics and students.
The University has a long history of working closely with industry, and continues to develop major partnerships with companies such as M&S, Santander and Sinochem whilst also working with local and regional SMEs, and establishing successful spin-out companies based on the latest innovations of Leeds’ academics.
Kathy Brownridge, the University’s Director of Research and Innovation Services, commented: “ In today’s economic climate it’s more important than ever that universities such as Leeds dedicate themselves to widening the impact of their world class research, and working closely with businesses of all sizes via a range of channels including consultancy, knowledge transfer partnerships and internships is a great way to achieve this. We are particularly keen to engage with companies who may not have considered working with a university before - including small and medium sized organisations, and those working in specialised sectors, to demonstrate what we have to offer.
The new site attempts to answer the kind of questions businesses ask us frequently. It aims to cut through the jargon and allows users to find information on services like hiring conference facilities or effective recruitment, whilst sparking interest in developing deeper partnerships via Knowledge Transfer or accessing new technologies to grow a business. Our aim is to continually update and refine the site in response to the needs of businesses and we welcome any feedback.”
The new site can be visited at www.leeds.ac.uk/business. Please send any comments or questions to business@leeds.ac.uk.
