Leeds Trinity graduates fly high through the recession
15th Jul 2010
Statistics released today reveal that Leeds Trinity University College has one of the highest graduate success rates in the country.
The Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) national Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education Survey gives an insight into what graduates are doing six months after graduation. The survey shows that despite the challenges of the economic climate 93% of those graduating last year with a first degree from Leeds Trinity University College were either in work or further study.
These statistics show that Leeds Trinity University College and Leeds College of Music have the highest employment rates in Yorkshire for their graduates.
Andrew Morgan graduated from Leeds Trinity University College in 2009 with an Upper Second class degree in Sports Journalism. As part of his degree he landed a placement at the press office for Wakefield Wildcats rugby club.
He said: “The professional placement during my degree proved to be invaluable. It gave me a step in the right direction and I received great feedback. I now work for Hull KR rugby club as Media Executive, proving that everything I learnt throughout my degree and during my placement paid off.”
“I owe a huge thanks to the Employer Partnership Office at Leeds Trinity. I wouldn’t have got where I am today without their help.”
Leeds Trinity University College Principal, Professor Freda Bridge, said: “These results reflect our dedication to preparing our students for the real world of work. The career-focused learning and practical experience elements of our courses, combined with the social and volunteering opportunities we provide, give excellent preparation for the real world of work.”
The statistics are released as this year’s graduates attend their ceremony. Recent graduate and Armes Prize recipient Stephanie Davis, who has already found a job as a teacher, said: “I feel really proud as teaching is all I’ve ever wanted to do. To be recognised across the institution is just brilliant and makes all the hard work I’ve put into the course worthwhile.”
