Performing at Leeds Festival is every young rock band’s dream. That dream will become a reality for one lucky winner of the Centre Stage music talent competition!
Young hopefuls will compete for the amazing prize of playing at the Leeds and Reading Festivals where rock legends Guns N Roses and the Libertines headline this year. Previous years have seen performances by The Pigeon Detectives, Kaiser Chiefs and Embrace (all from Yorkshire); this year Wakefield band The Cribs will be flying the flag.
Centre Stage has been organized by Martin House Children’s Hospice and will take place at 02 Academy Leeds on Mon 19th July at 6.30 where 13 talented young bands will have to give the performance of their life. The competition was launched in Sept 09 by Leeds very own Pigeon Detectives and has been designed to raise much needed funds for Martin House Children’s Hospice as well as give young bands a chance to shine and be noticed by industry professionals.
Dave Best (bass player of The Pigeon Detectives) said ‘It is a massive opportunity. There’s nothing like playing Leeds Festival. Most of the kids entering the competition will have been there.’
‘And all you think about when you get there is that it would be great to get on that stage. It’s a brilliant opportunity for all those bands out there’.
If you know a band (of school age) who fancy a chance of playing at the Leeds and Reading Festivals 2011, contact Amanda at Martin House acarter@martinhouse.org.uk.
