Bradford International Film festival comes to Leeds Trinity University College

16th Mar 2010
Leeds Trinity University College will be hosting a special weekend of movies this weekend as the Bradford International Film Festival branches out into satellite venues across the region.

The weekend opens on Friday evening with the European and International Premiere of “Bonecrusher”, Matthew F Fountain’s 2009 documentary about a mining community in Virginia stretched to breaking point by the global financial crisis.

On Saturday evening there is the European premiere of “The Red Rooster” directed by the experimental Canadian filmmaker Terry Miles. The final screening of the weekend is on Sunday evening, with Nicholas Roeg’s cult 1976 classic “The Man Who Fell To Earth” starring David Bowie.

Budding screenwriters can learn more about their art at “What’s the story?” a special workshop with Leeds Trinity academics Maggie Roux and Liz Rymer, on Sunday afternoon.

Chrissie Poulter, Head of Media, Film and Culture at Leeds Trinity, said, "We are absolutely delighted to be hosting events as part of one of the most exciting Film Festivals in the country, and look forward to welcoming visitors this weekend.”

“It is really encouraging to see the Festival make use of venues across the region in this way. Their satellite venue initiative allows us to share our excellent screening facilities and add yet another dimension to our film and media provision.”

Tickets are £3.50 and can be purchased online until the day before the event, and will also be available on the door. For more information visit Bradford International Film Festival, or contact Liz Rymer, Associate Principal Lecturer Dept of Media, Film and Culture, on 0113 283 7183 or email l.rymer@leedstrinity.ac.uk
