Leeds City College became a reality on April 1 2009, following the merger of Leeds College of Technology, Leeds Thomas Danby and Park Lane College Leeds&Keighley.
The College, one of the country’s largest with over 60,000 students, offers an extensive range of full and part-time courses to suit the needs of everyone from pre and post 16s to adult learners and employers.
Its diverse curriculum, covering almost all subject areas, encompasses academic and vocational qualifications through from basic skills to apprenticeships to Foundation Degrees.
The College is renowned for a number of key specialisms, with NSA status for Business, Community Sport Enterprise, Hospitality, Retail and Finance, as well as accolades for Printing and Computer Technology. Quality teaching is enhanced by excellent on-site specialist learning facilities including training kitchens and in-house restaurant, hair and beauty salons, a sports centre, construction and motor vehicle workshops and even a life-size aircraft cabin.
There are five main campuses – Horsforth, Keighley, Park Lane, Technology and Thomas Danby - as well as provisions in dozens of other smaller community centres across the region. Work is currently underway on the College’s first new building – a £35m campus in Keighley, due to open its doors to student in September 2010.
