Find your way to the Compass Festival
24th Nov 2011
As part of its ongoing efforts to help support local artists and interactive projects throughout the city, The Light this weekend welcomes the Compass Festival of Live Art to the centre.
The Compass Festival takes place over three days, Friday 25th November to Sunday 27th November in various locations across Leeds. Most of the work is in public spaces, and will be durational, lasting several hours and in some cases across all three days, inviting individuals to tour the city and interact with the different pieces as they go. The aim is to delight, surprise, provoke and involve as many people as possible in the experience.
For the festival The Light will be hosting Jenny Lawson; Bake me a Cake. For this Jenny will be welcoming individuals into store to bake a cake, your cake, the cake of your life! Everyone is invited to join Jenny in her fantasy kitchen (with working ovens), sit, drink tea, share stories, relive the memories of cake-times-past and choose your own ingredients for your perfect cake. Jenny will then work to your design and bake your cake with all ingredients kindly being donated by Exquisite Handmade cakes. On Sunday afternoon everyone is then invited back into store to come and see all the cakes together and Jenny will reward you with the greatest gift of all: homemade cake for FREE!
Compass Live will also be hosting other events throughout the city and a programme of activity, detailing the locations and artists exhibiting are available by visiting compassliveart.org.uk.
