Morley
Morley is a market town with a strong local identity, within easy reach of Leeds. There's plenty to do and lots to see here, as well as great shopping and plenty of good pubs, clubs and restaurants. With seven free car parks, pleasant scenery and a relaxed easy-going atmosphere, this is the perfect place to unwind and have a relaxing, enjoyable day.

In Morley, you can try the South Leeds Heritage Trail and explore the countryside and the many interesting heritage feature close to the town. The Viking Trail is an exciting new footpath proposed to link Morley and Batley/Birstall.

Morley also has an abundance of fantastic architecture and you shouldn't miss an opportunity to see the classically styled Town Hall located on Queen Street. It's a magnificent building that was completed in 1895 and is now a popular entertainment venue.

For shopping enthusiasts, Morley Market and Queen Street are a must, and after all that retail therapy, why not treat yourself to a fantastic meal at one of the many restaurants.

Morley is also home to many events and attractions, including wonderful displays at the Morley Christmas Lights, the Morley Gala every July and the oldest horse trade fair in Britain in August and September. There are also the famous ruins at Howley Hall, music concerts in Morley from brass band concerts and tea dances to Handel's Messiah at the Town Hall.

The town has been a settlement for over a thousand years and was mentioned in the Domesday Book. Morley became a borough in 1886 after intense development following the Industrial Revolution and finally became a district of Leeds in 1974 - but Morley resolutely kept its identity and traditions. The end of this century sees Morley well placed in the local communications system and has ensured its future as a booming marketing and distribution centre.
