The Garden of Rest is a delightful green space right in the city centre, located next to the St John’s Shopping Centre. An award winning restoration scheme has opened up the garden by creating new access points and the provision of new ramps and handrails has improved access for disabled people.

The natural slope of the site has been utilized to create simple, lawned terraces which provide informal seating in addition to the stylish new bench seats.

Whilst in the Garden of Rest, why not explore the adjoining Jacobean St John’s Church, now deconsecrated, and marvel at its remarkable double nave interior and the rich wood carvings of its pews, screens and pulpit.
