An engineering expert from global management and technical consultancy, WYG has been awarded a BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) award at a ceremony held in London.

This year BRE is celebrating 21 years since the accreditation BREEAM certification was created and as part of the celebrations BREEAM assessors are being recognised for the contribution they make to the scheme through the BREEAM Assessor Awards.

Ten winners were presented the awards at the BRE Groups’ Annual Conference at the Saatchi Gallery of which Sheila Mackenzie, a principal sustainability consultant at WYG, won the highest number of non-domestic buildings certified. 

Speaking after receiving the award Sheila said: “It is a great honour to receive this award and achieve recognition for all the hard work undertaken.  I have had the distinction of working with a number of superb Clients and Design Teams over the years and am glad that my friendly and helpful approach has allowed then to achieve their goals. I look forward to continuing with these great relationships and developing new ones”

Sheila is a prolific BREEAM assessor, having assessed buildings in the, bespoke, education, offices and healthcare sectors and has over 250 assessments registered and certifications covering over 130 separate developments.

Sheila was also a part of the award winning Loreto College Team which won the BREEAM for Further Education Award for sustainability at the 2010 BREEAM Awards.

BREEAM is the world’s foremost environmental assessment method and rating system for buildings, with 200,000 buildings certified and over a million registered for certification since it was first launched in 1990.
