Southwark Council and WYG continue successful relationship

28th Nov 2011
The London Borough of Southwark Leisure and Wellbeing team has renewed its maintenance management and monitoring services contract with global multi-disciplinary consultant WYG.

Following a successful tendering process, WYG will continue to monitor the Council’s leisure contractor in relation to planned and reactive maintenance and statutory compliance across seven leisure centres. In addition to this they will also monitor the maintenance of five sports grounds.

Over the two year contract the award-winning consultancy will ensure the leisure centres and sports grounds are maintained in accordance with the principles of good estate management. They will also project manage and monitor a number of planned new works and advise on a new major leisure centre development in Elephant and Castle.

Rob Fradgley of WYG said: “We are delighted to be continuing our relationship with Southwark. We have been working with them since November 2009  and in that time we have grown to understand their needs and requirements whilst offering a reliable and cost effective service.

“In the past year, we have assisted in the monitoring of life cycle expenditure for new works and reactive works to a value of £ 240K. We have monitored all repairs, ensuring they have been carried out promptly and to a high standard and we have also carried out a lot of work on improving the sustainability performance of the facilities. We are looking forward to building on the good work and systems that we have already completed.”

Jay Yeats, Head of Leisure and Wellbeing at Southwark Council said: “We are really pleased to continue our relationship with WYG. Over the past 18 months they have provided us with an excellent service and we look forward to that continuing."
