Partnerships group launches in Yorkshire and North East

24th Oct 2011
A new professional services association is launching in Yorkshire and the North East. The Association of Partnership Practitioners (APP) is a multi-disciplinary organisation of professionals that deal with or provide advice to partnerships.

APP members are drawn from a wide range of disciplines including lawyers, accountants, tax advisors, management consultants and bankers.  Its services include a directory of experts of partnership arbitrators and mediators as well as regular workshops and newsletters for the sharing of knowledge between members.

The first event for the Yorkshire and North East Group will take place on Thursday 20 October at 5.45pm at Addleshaw Goddard in Leeds and is titled "Mergers and Leading Effective Change".

The event will be chaired by Mark Jones, former Managing Partner of law firm Addleshaw Goddard and speakers include Peter Crossley of Squire Sanders.

The Association has previously concentrated much of its activities in London, but is now branching out to Yorkshire and the North East.

APP member Peter Cass, a Tax Associate Director at RSM Tenon in Leeds, has spearheaded the move.

Peter has been a member of the APP for a few years and says that knowledge of the APP in the region has been limited because their seminars, workshops and other events took place in London.

Peter said: “I looked at all the interesting APP sessions in London but rarely managed to coordinate them with London trips.  I also know that there are a number of professionals with extensive partnership experience in Yorkshire and the North East.

“Having canvassed opinion I found there was interest and support from the APP committee and so decided to set up a Yorkshire and North East Group”.
The launch of the Yorkshire and North East Group follows the successful launch of the North West Group earlier this year.

Jenny Jones, a Business Consultant at Jomati Consultants LLP, a law firm consultancy, is also a member of the APP and has been involved in the set up of both the Northern groups.

She said: “Having attended the high calibre London and Manchester workshops and seminars, I am delighted we are establishing a branch here in Yorkshire and the North East. The APP events are always informative and well presented and are an excellent forum for meeting fellow professionals who deal with partnership issues.”

Fellow APP member Gavin Maddison, a corporate finance partner at Ward Hadaway in Leeds, said: “Attending APP events has proved extremely useful for me when it comes to approaching partnership issues in the course of my work so I would urge fellow professionals to join the new regional group.”
