Leeds Corn Exchange may only be one year away from turning 150 years old, but this week it took one giant leap in to the twenty first century, by offering customers free access to the internet. Leeds shoppers can now enjoy free Wi-Fi in one of the city’s oldest and most iconic buildings.
The boutique shopping centre, which recently welcomed women’s fashion outlet Sasparilla and bespoke bridal milliner Lou Lou Puchalka, has also installed some comfy seating for shoppers to take a break, enjoy a drink and now surf the web.
Louise Smith, centre manager of the Corn Exchange said: “Most shoppers nowadays will use their phones whilst shopping, to either contact their friends or update their Facebook or Twitter followers about what they’re doing. We have now made it easier for them to do this in the comfort of our beautiful building.”
“Social media is very important to us and we have a loyal following on Facebook and Twitter. Connecting with customers online is very important as it gives them the chance to be first to see new products, hear the latest news and take advantage of exclusive offers from all of our independent retailers.”
To celebrate the Corn Exchange going online, Soap Star Gifts a retailer inside the centre is giving away 60 pieces of luxury handmade soap. For more information on how to claim one, go to the www.facebook.com/leedscornexchange or www.twitter.com/leedscornex
Customers can enjoy the free Wi-Fi for one hour and pay £3 per hour thereafter.
