Leeds Business School celebrates 85 years of success

Leeds Business School is inviting businesses to help celebrate eighty-five years of providing business and professional education in the region.

Leeds Business School, part of Leeds Metropolitan University has been supporting business and professional communities in the city of Leeds since the early 1900s and has played a vital role in enabling the growth and economic success of the city and wider region.  To mark the occasion Leeds Business School is inviting local businesses to join the University in recognising the many businesses, practitioners, organisations and people who have supported and worked with Leeds Metropolitan over the decades.

Barbara Colledge, Dean of the Faculty of Business&Law said: “We are proud of our strong connections with business and the professions and our role in our city region. During the past 85 years we have inspired and supported thousands of people to unlock their potential and become global leaders in business, in the Leeds region, nationally and internationally, by transforming knowledge into action.  Today nearly 6,000 people each year are redefining their futures by studying and engaging with us, in Leeds, in the work place, online or at one of our international partnerships.”

Established today as a leading provider of business and law education, Leeds Business School offer a comprehensive portfolio of undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral and professional courses, together with research and enterprise that connects with the business world.  Through engagement with business, an extensive range of professional accreditations and the academic experience and talent of the staff, Leeds Business School develop the skills and ambitions of people to both inspire and enable professional success. 

2011 marks 85 years since the inception of the Leeds School of Commerce, the business school’s predecessor institution, which gained College status in 1926, and merged with Leeds Metropolitan in 1970.  In 2009 the University opened the multi award-winning home for Leeds Business School, the Rose Bowl, in the centre of Leeds, nearby to the Leeds College of Commerce’s location on Woodhouse Lane
