Leeds Bradford International Airport
Plans have been announced for a multi-million pound investment programme to deliver ‘best in class’ facilities at Leeds Bradford International Airport, the main international gateway for Leeds and the Yorkshire region.
The next stages of the plans include a two storey extension to the landside face of the existing terminal, and important internal modifications to the current building. Additional space will improve the layout and circulation in the concourse and at check-in; the passenger security screening zone will be renewed and expanded; and a new departure lounge and seating area will benefit from natural light created by a glazed roof.
There will also be improvements to the domestic baggage reclaim hall and a remodelling of the airside immigration facilities. The airport is awaiting planning permission for the £28m development currently under proposal.
John Parkin, Leeds Bradford International Airport’s Chief Executive said: “Our plans to improve the terminal building will transform LBIA. We will create modern, spacious and service-focused facilities designed to make the airport easy and convenient to use. The terminal proposals will also deliver impressive new facilities which will integrate with the existing building sympathetically in scale and design.”
It provides services for business and leisure passengers alike, with two check-in halls and 42 check-in desks. All holidays and flights can be booked on-line, as well as discounted car parking, Fast Track, Executive Lounge, and currency.
