Overview
Opposite is an independent espresso bar focussed on providing healthy food and excellent coffee to the students of Leeds University and beyond. Opposite took second place in the
UK Barista Championships
this year - and they had only been open for six months!
Located directly 'Opposite' the Parkinson Building - the iconic main building and library of the University - the cafe has become popular with students, staff and everybody else as well.
The principles of Opposite are simple:
Providing the best gourmet fairtrade coffee that Leeds has to offer.
Serving affordable, healthy and freshly made food every day - no additives here!
To use Fairtrade and organic produce wherever possible.
To source suppliers locally and support small independent businesses.
To promote local musicians, artists and designers.
To create a social hub for customers that is fizzing with creativity.
The Opposite espresso is a blend of 5 high quality arabica beans from 3 continents. The best thing about it - apart from the taste of course - is the fact that every single bean is certified Fairtrade.
Opposite milk comes from a local organic dairy near Wakefield. They deliver it freshly pasteurized 3 times a week from the happy cows at Hillthorn Farm.
Opposite is currently hosting an exhibition of art by Luke Drozd.
Bored of the ordinary? Try the Opposite.
