Overview

Mook is a popular lunchtime spot, and with a courtyard and bar outside, eating and drinking here in the summer evenings also promises to be popular. Taking the place of The Whip in Hirst's Yard, Mook has inserted itself into the Call Lane / Lower Briggate circuit of well-designed, quality bars. They serve reasonably priced orientally-inspired bar food. The decor is deliberately sparse, with some interesting features, but the bar manages to retain a sense of cosiness through split-level and wall-recessed seating. Mooks own-brand cocktails are definitely worth a try, but it's a difficult choice from an extensive cocktail and shooter list, in addition to the usual range of spirits and bottled and draught beers.
