Leeds pub is hit with judges

A Leeds pub has received a gold award from the Leeds in Bloom summer competition.

The Bridge, in Low Lane, Horsforth, was chosen for the accolade just months after being named best pub in the spring Leeds in Bloom event.

Pub manager Rachel Jenkinson thanked staff and gardener Hugh Kenworthy for looking after the floral displays in the hanging baskets, window boxes and hayricks despite another summer of bad weather.

She said: "He has worked tirelessly throughout the year in our beautiful garden which once again has seen some wonderful colours.

"We are pleased that our flowers give so much pleasure, not only to our regular customers, but also to the many people passing through the area."
