Gok Wan turns on the style at opening of Clarence Dock

Fashion guru Gok Wan gave Clarence Dock a stylish finishing touch with a fashion extravaganza at the weekend.

But the 34-year-old admitted that once the show was over, he would be slipping into jogging bottoms and sipping his favourite tipple – a Stella top.

"I'm a proper bloke at heart," he joked.

Gok was in Leeds to host the glittering event which came complete with a floating catwalk and fashion shows throughout the afternoon.

More than 5,000 visitors were expected on the day which marked the opening of the centre's retail stores.

Never far from his menthol Marlboro Lights, Gok told the YEP he thought the development would be a huge hit.

"It's amazing, I think it's stunning the work / life environment. The British culture works more than ever now. We are busy, we need everything on our doorstep."

Simon Kidd, commercial lettings director at Clarence Dock, said the opening was as a result of eight years' hard work.

And although Clarence Dock has opened in a troubled financial climate, he believes it will still be a success.

"I think it's a harsh market but the advantages are that the brands here will attract our core customers which are young people.

"The young singles, young couples, with disposable incomes; they are not held back by family commitments, big mortgages or having to fill cars."
