Awards all round for promising students

On Thursday 26th June, Leeds Civic Hall played host to the Leeds College of Technology annual awards ceremony.

This prestigious event was attended by influential local business people as well as staff, governors and guest speaker, Nigel Wood, Chief Executive of the Rugby Football League.

The ceremony got off to a promising start as students arrived with families, partners and employers to receive awards celebrating their success over the past academic year.

Following an address from Principal Peter Ryder and Chairman of the Corporation, Brian Brock, Mr Wood recounted stories of his exciting and varied career history whilst offering the students some salient pieces of advice.

As the evening progressed the awards were handed out, photographs taken and handshakes exchanged, with special staff recognition for Inderjit Basan and tutor, Kerry Hazlewood as well as the much-anticipated Student of the Year accolade being received by Omair Khan.
