Overview
Contemporary Consort is an ensemble of young, classically trained musicians that specialises in the presentation of music by British composers from 1900 to the present. Contemporary Consort was formed in 1998 from alumni of the Royal College of Music. The ensemble has performed at the Purcell Room in London, and for the BBC Proms Composer Portrait Series at the Royal Albert Hall annually since 2002. In 2005 they gave the London première of Thomas Adès' new work, Court Studies, at the RCM, which they performed with other Adès works in a BBC Proms Composer Portrait.
There will be a Pre-concert talk "Signposts to Messiaen" from 6.45pm-7.05pm with the main programme starting at 7.30pm.
