Overview
Widely regarded as Sweden’s leading contemporary jazz pianist, Bobo Stenson established his reputation early in his career by working with visiting American artists including Sonny Rollins, Stan Getz and Don Cherry.
In 1971 Bobo began his long association with the ECM record label, recording and performing with Jan Garbarek, Terje Rypdal, Arild Anderson, Tomasz Stanko and Jon Christensen. His lyrical and sympathetic contribution to the recording comeback of Charles Lloyd consolidated Stenson’s reputation on an international level and an 11-year musical relationship with Lloyd.
The Trio’s new CD, Candona, released on ECM Records in September 2008, follows a similar path to his earlier CD Goodbye, covering another typically eclectic range of music ranging from Silvio Rodriguez, Astor Piazzolla and Ornette Coleman through to Alban Berg.
