Schnittke Epilogue from the ballet Peer Gynt
Alfred Schnittke once declared that his goal in life was “to unify serious music and light music, even if I break my neck doing so”. His ballet score to Peer Gynt was composed over a two-year period from 1985. We look forward especially to welcoming his widow Irina as the pianist in the third concert of our cycle of six. This concert is presented in memory of Rostropovich.
