Overview
The name has its roots in the seminal blues track ‘Smokestack Lightning’ by Howlin’ Wolf and the celebrated Blue Note album by Andrew Hill. With this in mind, Smokestack is set to take their customers on a musical voyage through gumbo funk and Memphis soul, stopping to pick up some Chicago blues, jazz and reggae along the way.
Spread over two floors, the first floor embodies that relaxed lounge feel with a collection of soft booths and sofas for patrons to sink into as they sample the extensive drinks list. The emphasis on quality is evident in the wide range of premium drinks, international beers and a cocktail menu comprising the classics and Smokestack’s own signature drinks.
‘The Roost’ on the top floor is a different kettle of fish. This will be available for private functions, and at the weekend will feature live music from around the world, alongside sets from some of the most reputable funk and soul DJ’s in the UK.
Smokestack offers customers what no other bar in Leeds currently does: a place to let time slip away, whilst waves of nostalgia from the Deep South wash over you as you enjoy great drinks and high quality service.
All you funk brothers, soul sisters, beatniks, jazz heads & ragamuffins get ready.
The gumbo funk, psychedelic soul party has begun.
