Overview
Pugneys Country Park is a 250 acre site which was officially opened on the 1st August 1985. The Park has two lakes. The largest of the two is a 100 acre water sports lake. This caters for non-powered watersports such as canoeing, sailing and windsurfing. Equipment is available to hire or, alternatively, the public can bring their own craft to use on the lake. Coaching courses are arranged in all the disciplines for both adults and juniors. A track runs round the largest lake and is approximately 1.6 miles long, suitable for running or taking a stroll. The smaller lake is 24 acres and is a nature reserve overlooked by two bird hides. The new water sports centre was opened in early 2005 providing excellent facilities including; changing room, class rooms and conference facilities. The water sports facility also provides excellent refreshment facilities at the modern cafeteria, where hot and cold food and drinks is available 7 days a week. A comprehensive range of water sport courses are available at the centre and new equipment is available to bring this very successful centre into the 21st century, not only in the service it provides but also in the new state of the art building
