Overview
Over 8,000 spectacular exhibits in stunning surroundings from 3,000 years of history make this world-famous collection of arms and armour a must-see attraction. Breathtaking displays, costumed demonstrations, dramatic interpretations, live action events, entertaining films, interactive technology and thrilling exhibitions can all be experienced at the Royal Armouries Museum. Displaying some of Britain's oldest armour and military equipment, the Royal Armouries also houses interactive exhibitions of international artefacts and live dramatisations, and in the summer months thrills visitors with its regular outdoor jousting, horse combat and falconry demonstrations. 2006 is the 10th birthday of the Royal Armouries opening in Leeds. As part of the year long celebration, a series of events will take place, reflecting the diverse range of the Museum's roles and responsibilities: as a major tourist attraction, a great day out, the national collection of arms and armour; and a focal point for critical issues around conflict resolution. Specialist Museum of the Year, Good Britain Guide Best Large Visitor Attraction, YTB White Rose Awards 2004/5
