Overview

The Cockpit has been synonymous with promoting the best US and UK cutting edge rock for over five years. Taking up two large railway arches on Swinegate, the venue is split into two sections. The Cockpit is the larger of the two and puts on established names from both sides of the Atlantic whilst the Rocket is used to showcase hip young bands championed by the likes of NME and Radio 1's Steve Lamacq show. Both venues hold regular club nights which play music across the alternative rock spectrum from skate punk and nu-metal to indie classics from the seventies onwards. Saturday's highly acclaimed 'Garage' night has been dubbed, "the most respected alternative night in the country" by the NME and called, "the best indie club in Britain" by Melody Maker. If you like your music loud with drums pounding and guitars blazing, this is the place for you.
