Singing superstar to be crowned at stadium

Leeds’ next singing superstar is set to be revealed this Friday at Headingley Carnegie as the finalists of the Jet2.com Rhinos Factor competition battle it out for the chance to be crowned champion and walk away with a luxury five-star holiday.

Now in its second year, the Jet2.com Rhinos Factor has seen nine young talented hopefuls sing in front of thousands of Leeds Rhinos fans to win their place in the grand final which takes place this Friday before Leeds Rhinos local derby clash against Wakefield.

The Jet2.com Rhinos Factor champion will walk away with a seven-night break for two people at the five-star Dream Hotel Gran Castillo and Spa in Lanzarote provided by Jet2.com and Jet2Holidays.com

The search for Leeds’ hottest star began back in February when a flock of talented hopefuls descend on Headingley Carnegie Stadium for the auditions.

Heat One was won by 26-year-old Beth McNeil who performed Dusty Springfield’s “Son of a Preacher Man”.

From heat two, Debbie Bunn sung her way through to the final with a performance of Queen’s “Somebody to Love”. The third and final place was claimed by 17-year-old Maria Strudwick with her rendition of Mariah Carey’s “Hero”.

The eagerly anticipated all-female final will take place on Friday 16th May when Leeds Rhinos take on Wakefield Trinity Wildcats. The fate of each contestant will lie with the 15,000 plus crowd who will be able to vote for their favourite act after seeing them perform once again.

For fans to vote for their favourite all they have to do is text Rhinos followed by either Beth, Debbie or Maria to 81700. Texts cost £1.

Commenting on the Jet2.com Rhinos Factor, Marketing Executive Helen Saunders said, “This competition has given some of Leeds brightest young talent the opportunity to perform live in font of thousands of spectators. We have seen some really magical performances and the contestants have done a great job in promoting Leeds for its musical talent.

"On Friday, thanks to the Jet2.com Rhinos Factor, the overall winner will walk away with a five-star holiday at the Dream Hotel Gran Castillo and Spa in Lanzarote, provided by Jet2.com, and will be one step closer to reaching their dream and becoming Leeds next big thing.’’

Jonathan Alcock, Marketing Manager at Jet2.com commented: “This year’s Jet.com Rhinos Factor has been a really exciting competition and it has been great fun to be involved.

"All of the singers have been extremely talented and I’m sure that the lucky winner will go on to great things – once they have got back from relaxing on their holiday of course!”
