A manufacturer of adhesives and sealants, Everbuild Ltd, moved to the Aire Valley Leeds from Pudsey in 2003. As they grew the company wanted to increase manufacturing space, taking on in-house production facilities.
Originally based in Pudsey, Everbuild had manufacturing plants across
the globe, particularly in China. In a bid to promote better working
practice and bring the company’s operations together, Everbuild Ltd
took the unusual decision to move one of the manufacturing plants from
China back into the UK.
The company now needed much larger
premises with ease of access to transport and distribution networks.
Located immediately to the south of Leeds city centre, the Aire Valley
Leeds extends to the A1-M1 link road and offers ideal access to the
M62/M1 motorway network, making it the perfect location for
distribution-led businesses.
Leeds City Council were contacted
to help the company find new premises and to find out whether grants
were available to assist with the relocation. The Council worked
closely with the company to find sites that would fit their
requirements and provided grants to help the company expand its
operations. The council’s Aire Valley Leeds project team, which is
overseeing a major regeneration programme for the area, also helped
with recruitment of 15 new staff. The team advertised the vacancies,
vetted applicants and arranged the interviews.
The new £4
million site allowed the company to realise its objective of expanding
production capacity and its workforce has increased from 83 to 130.
Through the help and assistance the company received, Everbuild was
able to develop a larger site than was originally required and sold of
part of this, to help pay the cost of the move. The company now enjoys
better working processes and continued growth within the thriving Leeds
manufacturing sector.
