Leeds Chamber appoints new Chief Executive
Leeds Chamber of Commerce has announced the appointment of Gary Williamson as its new CEO.
Mr Williamson was offered the post at the recent board meeting, where it was unanimously agreed that he was the Board’s choice to succeed predecessor Richard Mansell. The position will commence with immediate effect.
Welcoming Gary Williamson into the role, Chamber President Alan Gill said:
“On behalf of the Leeds Chamber of Commerce I would like to congratulate Gary on becoming Chief Executive.
"The selection process lasted five months and we had a number of high calibre candidates. Gary is the right man to lead the Chamber and his vision for the Chamber’s future means that we are looking forward to exciting times with him at the helm.”
Commenting on securing the top job at Leeds Chamber of Commerce, new CEO Gary Williamson said:
“I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to lead the Chamber and am looking forward to building upon the success this Chamber has had in the last few years.
"Having been at the Chamber for a number of years, I have seen it grow in terms of membership and the services it offers. Following the Chamber’s recent merger with Leeds Media and BACIL, we now have one of the strongest membership organisations in the north of England."
"I am honoured to be now leading the city’s Chamber into its next phase, and my vision is to see Leeds enhance its position as a national and international city for business. To make this happen, I’m looking forward to talking to Leeds businesses so that we can do this together.”
